The dry, warmer months of Spring are always great for birding in the Daintree with seasonal migrants such as Eastern Koel, Channel-billed Cuckoo, Brown-backed Honeyeater, Cicadabird and Dollarbird all arriving for the summer.
Koels and Channel-bills are referred to as ‘Storm Birds’and often herald the arrival of the ‘build-up’season, when thunderstorms become more frequent, with their loud raucous calls.
