Posting from sunny Sydney as we wait for a flight to Santiago, then Lima and finally Bogota - a long day ahead.
We have a month in Colombia attending the Colombian Birdfair, doing a tour of the Santa Marta region and generally exploring and having a good time!
The lovely Silvia is looking after Red Mill House for us while we are away. Business as usual.
An interesting time weather-wise in Daintree with the ‘wet season’ yet to eventuate by late Feb - less than 400ml for the year to date, less than half compared to last year. Fortunately the Red Mill House pond is full so the kingfishers are enjoying it and the bird baths and Andrew’s ‘tree sprinkler’ are busy and appreciated. Red-neck Crake and Bush-Hen in the yard, Azure Kingfisher, Double-eyed Fig-Parrot and all the usual suspects.
We will miss the wake-up Kookaburra calls, but are very excited about what birds we may see in Colombia. Blow you away!!
